VI.15.16 Pompeii. December 2007. Looking north-west across remains of two-sided counter with one dolium and a hearth.
According to NdS, when excavated the two-sided counter was already partly destroyed.
The counter was faced, on both sides, with red plaster.
The horizontal top was covered with fragments of marble and slate, and contained four earthenware urns, of which only one remained.
The counter ended with a small hearth.
The shop-room had a high dado of brick plaster and above it, white plaster.
As in the previous thermopolium VI.15.15, traces of fire were observed.
